My Personal Experience with Cavity Wall Insulation

Recently, my husband and I glimpsed our dream home. It was an ancient home built in the 1920s.The agent informed us that the house has cavity walls, which are not insulated and we may have to undertake cavity wall insulation to enhance the energy efficiency of the place.

Initially, we did not understand. We decided to research online and find out all about this.

We discovered that a number of houses built in that era, especially near coastal areas had cavity in the walls to keep out the moisture from seeping into the inner walls from outside also called Hulmurs isolering. The cavity walls of course did a poor job, keeping the heat in. This would push up our use of heating appliances to keep the house warm and consequently cause higher power bills.

The fact that Cavity walls also raise the carbon emissions from the house helped us decide. We did not want our humble dwelling to add to the green house effect. We opted for cavity wall insulation prior to moving in.

Today, we proudly proclaim that our home is energy efficient and is doing its bit towards conservation of Planet Earth.
